Brothers of the Brush by Jimmy Murphy

Brothers of the Brush tells how housepainters, patching over the cracks of an old house, misuse each other for their own advantage. In a world blighted by economic recession, with workers losing faith in old ideologies, Brothers of the Brush demonstrates just how fragile allegiances are when personal interests are at stake.
Jimmy Murphy

Jimmy Murphy's first play, 'Brother's of the Brush', opened at the Peacock Theatre for the 1993 Dublin Theatre Festival where it won the Best New Irish Play Award and the 1994 Stewart Parker Trust Award. The play has subsequently been performed in various countries around the world and at the Arts Theatre, London. Murphy's plays for radio include 'Mandarin Lime', 'Peel's Brimstone' and 'The Jangle of the Keys'. Writing for television includes 'Ballykissangel' and 'Tinsel Town'.
