Drama Workshops & Showcase
We are delighted to be working with Creative Ireland to run a series of workshops over the summer, culminating in a theatrical showcase in September. The workshops will provide training, inspiration and mentoring for anyone interested in any aspect of theatre. We want to celebrate creativity and discover and develop dramatic talent in all its forms!
Workshops
We have three workshops running this summer. No experience is necessary.
An Acting workshop with Geoff O’Keefe on Sunday 26th June
Director, facilitator, and adjudicator Geoff O’Keefe will run a one-day course for those interested in learning more about the techniques used in developing a character on stage. The course is aimed at new and experienced actors.
A Directing Workshop with Geoff O’Keefe on Sunday 10th July
Director, facilitator, and adjudicator Geoff O’Keefe will run a one-day course for those interested in learning more about the skills and techniques used in directing productions. The course is aimed at new and emerging directors.
A Lighting & Sound Workshop with Paddy Farrelly on Sunday 21st August
Paddy Farrelly is the Technical Manager in The Ramor Theatre and The Town Hall Cavan. Paddy’s workshop will look at some basic skills for operating and designing light and sound elements for a show.
Mentoring
We have two mentoring sessions during the summer for those who wish to dive deeper into various elements of writing and directing.
Mentoring with Playwright Deirdre Kinahan
Deirdre ran two previous workshops with us and is back to work one-on-one with a select number of emerging writers. She will read draft pieces and provide some insight and support to bring the script to a finished draft. Contact Taragh for more information: taragh.donohoe@gmail.com
Mentoring For New Directors with Geoff O’Keefe
Leading on from our acting and directing workshops and our script writing competition, we hope to put several short pieces into production. The director and cast will be mentored by Geoff at a one day workshop on the 7th August. Contact Taragh at taragh.donohoe@gmail.com for more information.
Showcase
In late September we hope to run a weekend where all our new pieces will be performed publicly. More details to follow.
