Short Script Competition

We are delighted to announce the opening of our Short Script Competition, giving amateur writers an opportunity to bring their stories to an audience. The competition is open to any amateur writer and welcomes scripts from any genre on any theme.

Our Adjudicator

Our competition judge will be Padraic McIntyre, a playwright himself, in addition to being an actor, director and theatre manager. Up to six pieces will be shortlisted to receive two wonderful opportunities.

Performance & Mentoring

· To have their piece produced and performed in The Corn Mill Theatre
· Free mentoring on a script of their choice with playwright Deirdre Kinahan

Competition Requirements

· Scripts to be under 15 minutes in length
· Original and unperformed
· Deadline: 22nd July 2022
· Submit via email to (all and any queries to Taragh at this email address).

Further Notes and Terms

· Scripts will be furnished to the judge without the authors name or contact details, that is, they will be read blind.
· One entry per person
· Up to six scripts will be shortlisted for the competition. However, a fewer number may be selected depending on the standard reached
· In addition to the shortlisted ‘performance ready’ scripts, the judge will select a small number of scripts as ‘meriting further development’.
· Brief feedback will be given to each playwright.
