Under the auspices of the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland
Fáilte roibh go léir chun ár Féile Dramaíochta 2020. A warm welcome to the Corn Mill Theatre to our eight groups, our adjudicator Geoff O’Keeffe and last but by no means least, to you our audience; we hope you enjoy the eight nights and we thank you for your attendance on the circuit.
The Night Alive is a play that explores the lives of a few lost souls… and a chance connection that may change their lives. Tommy is a man who has been drifting through life for the past two years after becoming estranged from his family. He lives in a bedsit flat in his Uncle’s house in Dublin, making ends meet through whatever crackpot schemes he and his friend Doc can concoct. When he rescues a young prostitute named Aimee, who has been badly beaten, Tommy begins to feel a glimmer of hope that he can make something of his life. All of that may end, however, as a man from Aimee’s past makes an unwelcome appearance…. From the author of The Weir and The Seafarer comes this stunning Irish drama, one not to be missed!
Enniskillen Theatre Company was established in 2019. All members of this small group have been involved in various drama groups in Enniskillen, including Enniskillen Amateur Dramatic Society, Light Operatic Society and other local drama groups. The cast between them, including the director have all played parts in many successful productions all staged at the Ardhowen Theatre Enniskillen. As no group from Enniskillen have been involved in festivals for many years the company was formed with the intention of giving it a try. So, a Play was picked, a cast recruited and 2020 sees Enniskillen Theatre company tentatively dipping their toes into the festivals’ waters. It has happened rather quickly since the idea was born. The company have really enjoyed the rehearsal process for this great Play and hope that they are able to do justice to this excellent work by Conor McPherson.
