Lovely Leitrim is the story about a number of families in Leitrim, the problems of small holdings and emigration. It is in essence the story of Leitrim itself.

Author

John McDwyer was born in Sooey, Co. Sligo in 1947. He worked in various parts of Ireland for AIB Bank for thirty two years before retiring to help co-found Beezneez Theatre Company, a semi-professional touring company. He has been Artistic Director to the company since it's foundation. He emerged as a writer in 1992 when his first radio play, Month's Mind, won the RTE PJ O'Connor award and he has had numerous radio plays performed since then. His first published short story, Fair Day, won the Leitrim Guardian Literary Award in 1994. Apart from the Leitrim Trilogy, other stage plays include You'll Never Walk Alone, Love is. . . and United. He lives and works in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim.
