One Act Production 'Melody'
The Corn Mill Theatre Group are proud to present their One Act Festival production 'Melody' by Deirdre Kinahan in the Corn Mill Theatre on Sunday 27th & Monday 28th October, directed by Taragh Donohoe. Joining us on Monday night is Moogles Theatre Company with 'By Megan's Grave' by Alice Lynch. A great night of theatre in store.
Melody
Widow Kathleen is a sophisticated city lady who loves to cook and is looking for love second time around. William, a bachelor from the country with a good pensionable job, is looking for his first love. Our fateful lovers meet on a park bench and share picnics while chatting and listening to classical music. However, appearances are deceiving, and they realise that their darker alter-egos may threaten their sweet and tentative relationship.

Deirdre Kinahan is a Dublin-based playwright and theatre producer who founded and ran Tall Tales Theatre Company for 15 years and is currently a board member of Theatre Forum Ireland. Deirdre wrote her first play in 1999 when a group of women at Ruhama Women's Project asked her to write a play about their lives as prostitutes. Be Carna was widely regarded as a powerful debut. Her play Moment played at the Bush to critical acclaim and sell out audiences in 2011 whilst her latest play These Halcyon Days won a Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival 2013. Her new play Spinning opened at the Dublin Theatre Festival in 2014. Deirdre has also been part of the Open Court season at the Royal Court with a play about the Irish economic crisis.
