One Wife Too Many

The Corn Mill Theatre Group present their spring production of One Wife Too Many by Jimmy Keary, a comedy, in the Corn Mill Theatre on Thursday 9th, Friday 10th & Saturday 11th April at 8pm.

Cast includes some Corn Mill favourites; Brian Murray, Killian McGuinness, Chris Slattery, Catherine Brady, Roisin Kenny, Elizabeth Doonan, Marie Conboy, and Sarah Slattery.

Synopsis

Landscape gardener Shane Clancy is planning to ask his live-in girlfriend, Ellen O’Connell to marry him. Then a colourful young woman, Gemma Giles turns up out of the blue claiming to have had a one-night stand with Shane and that he asked her to marry him. With Ellen away on a hen’s weekend, Shane desperately tries to sort out the mess before she gets back. But the more he tries, the more complicated things become.

Jimmy Keary

Born in 1958 in Corrydonlon, Rathowen, Co. Westmeath, Jimmy began is his writing in 1970 through detective/adventure stories for his own amusement. Over the following six and a half years, he wrote over 100 short stories. In 1977 he made his acting debut in a production of ‘Drama At Inish’ at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. In 1980 he joined Rathowen Amateur Dramatic Society (RADS), with his first comedy sketch, ’Father of the Bride’ performed in a variety concert in Rathowen. From 1985-86, he wrote sketches and one-liners for the RTE variety series, ‘Davis At Large’. In 1997 his first one-act play, ‘Looking For Love’ was performed in the Bog Lane Theatre, Ballymahon. In 2000, his first three-act play ‘The Maiden Aunt’ premiered in Killala, Co. Mayo. In the last 21 years, he has written 23 three-act comedies, which have been staged all over Ireland. A number of the plays have also been staged in the United States, Canada & Spain. In 2019 there were 38 productions of my plays around the country. Last year, 2025, he completed his new three-act comedy entitled, ‘One Wife Too Many’.

  2. Beside the Ticket price, select 'Get Ticket', and then select 'Cart'.
  3. Next pick how many people will be attending that night in the 'Quantity Box'. Click 'Update Cart' when done.
  4. While on that page, fill out the buyer details, and the details of the people attending (You can use the same email address for all. Then click 'Proceed to Checkout').
  5. 'Payment Summary' - check that all the details are correct, and continue to 'Checkout'.
  6. 'Process Payment' - via Stripe, add in your Debit or Credit Card details and PAY.
  7. You will then be sent an email to download your purchased Tickets (Please check Junk/Spam Mail in case it arrives there).
  8. Please print off your ticket(s) or display it on your phone and present it at the Box Office on the night of the performance. 

Show Time & Arrival

Show begins at 8pm sharp (Tickets €18). Doors will be open a half an hour before the advertised starting time. Please arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before the show commences. Latecomers will not be admitted.
