Science on Screen

‘Science on Screen’ at the Corn Mill Theatre & Arts Centre on Sunday 16th October from 4:30-6pm. Admin FREE
The ‘Science on Screen’ project is a joint initiative of CÚRAM, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Medical Devices, and the Galway Film Centre.
The programme aims to facilitate, promote and increase the inclusion of science content in Irish media. The documentaries are 26 minutes long and are used throughout the country at schools, for community screenings as well as at academic conferences and have reached over 1 million people to date.
This screening will show two of the produced documentaries: ‘The People There to Catch Us’ tells the story of Tom Hope and Rachel O’Mahony, two cancer survivors who work alongside researchers at CÚRAM and Precision Oncology Ireland (POI), to help improve the lives of others living with the disease.
‘Feats of Modest Valour’ investigates the challenging physical reality of living with Parkinson’s Disease and the research being done to potentially halt the devastating disease. Woven together with observation and animation, the film invites us to witness the story of ground-breaking research taking place at CÚRAM.
